Month Of Chocolate – Brie & Chocolate Panini
Chocolate is seen as a sweet ingredient but can also be used in savory dishes. It is usually mixed with chili and used as a beef stew from South America. However, I wanted to have a go at making something else savory and after much searching came across this recipe for Brie and Chocolate Panini. I have tweaked it a little and hope that you are brave enough to give it a go and tell me what you think of it.
2 slices of bread
Brie cheese, thinly sliced
Chopped dark chocolate
Basil leaves
Preheat your Panini grill.
Brush both sides of the bread with butter or olive oil.
Place cheese on one slice of bread and sprinkle chocolate over the top. Add basil leaves.
Grill the sandwich until the chocolate and cheese begin to melt and the bread starts to brown, about 5 minutes.
Now the first sandwich I made used dark chocolate (85% so very bitter) which gave a very bitter taste to the sandwich. I then made a second one this time I used a cheaper dark chocolate (Supermarket budget dark chocolate) and this was much better.
Are you brave enough to try a cheese and chocolate panini?
